![]() ![]() Layers panel is available from the Panel bar when you select the following tool: Layers can be displayed in PDF files and you can add new layers. Layers are useful when working with architectural plans and in preparingĭocuments for a printing house. Layers separate different elements of a PDF page. Welcome > Dialog boxes and panels > Power PDF > Layers Layers Note that operators cannot be used as search terms: + - * : ~ ^ ' " (Example: port~1 matches fort, post, or potr, and other instances where one correction leads to a match.) To use fuzzy searching to account for misspellings, follow the term with ~ and a positive number for the number of corrections to be made.(Example: shortcut^10 group gives shortcut 10 times the weight as group.) ![]() Follow the term with ^ and a positive number that indicates the weight given that term. For multi-term searches, you can specify a priority for terms in your search.(Example: title:configuration finds the topic titled “Changing the software configuration.”) Type title: at the beginning of the search phrase to look only for topic titles.(Example: inst* finds installation and instructions.) The wildcard can be used anywhere in a search term. Use * as a wildcard for missing characters.(Example: user +shortcut –group finds shortcut and user shortcut, but not group or user group.) Type + in front of words that must be included in the search or - in front of words to exclude.To refine the search, you can use the following operators: The results appear in order of relevance, based on how many search terms occur per topic. The search also uses fuzzy matching to account for partial words (such as install and installs). If you type more than one term, an OR is assumed, which returns topics where any of the terms are found. Move the Resize list slider at the bottom of the Objects docker.The search returns topics that contain terms you enter. Objects on the layer are displayed with the layer color when you use Wireframe view ( View Wireframe). In the Objects docker, click the layer color bar that appears to the right of the layer name, and choose a color. To change the color of the wireframe lines You can also point to the right of the layer name and Ctrl-click the layer color icon. This feature lets you control the viewing mode of each layer as opposed to the View Wireframe and other view commands that apply to all layers in a project. In the Objects docker, right-click a layer, and click Switch to Wireframe View or Switch to Color View. In the Objects docker, Ctrl+click the arrow to the left of the layer, page, or group name. To expand fully layers, pages, and groups If you want to view a document that has facing pages, see To view facing pages. ![]() The names of the active page and layer also appear at the top of the Objects docker. The name of the active layer and the type of the currently selected object appear on the status bar at the bottom of the application window. For more information about changing layer properties, see Change layer properties. This feature is useful for hiding the master layer content or changing the layer stacking order on a specific page. The Objects docker shows thumbnail previews of objects so that you can identify them more easily. Also, you can change the color of the wireframe lines. Useful for complex projects, this feature lets you control the viewing mode of each layer as opposed to the View Wireframe command that applies to all layers in a project. You can also switch the view of a layer from a color viewing mode such as Normal or Enhanced to Wireframe. You can expand layers, pages, and groups, including any nested groups residing on them, with a single click.
